“Why Water Why Now”
This is your invitation to the Thirsting To Serve 8th Annual Water Conference held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Prince Conference Center, Calvin College in Grand Rapids. The name of the conference is “Why Water Why Now”.
This year’s water conference will explore some of the many ‘whys’ in our work with water during the past few years. Why isn’t water safe? Why would collaboration improve the impact of Rotary involvement in solutions? Dr. Ron Denham, chairman of Water and Sanitation Rotarian Action Group (WASRAG), will return with the latest news at a global level….what is WASRAG doing? We learned last year that the impact of youth being involved could be quite profound and inspirational to other generations. So this year’s conference will feature 3 young ladies from Racine WI and how they used their ability to create award winning documentaries to teach & challenge. Moises Sirfen Juan (hospital administrator), Good Samaritan Hospital in the Dominican Republic, will share why a hospital decided to attack health problems in the water of Haitian bateys so they could be more effective with the limited resources of the hospital.
This is not a water conference to miss….it is a conference to bring young people….it is a conference where everyone participates, discusses and leaves with new energy to get involved.
For Rotary members there is an early registration fee available until March 15, 2012 of $55.00 and after that date the fee is $70.00. All adult non Rotary fees for the conference are $70.00. Student fees are a special price of only $20.00. These fees include all the activities and lunch.
Rotary clubs are encouraged to invite and sponsor the youth in their communities to attend and use this opportunity to strengthen these relationships.
